The countdown to the end of the season is well and truly on with only 12 more milkings. Soil temperature is currently 6 deg above the same time last year i.e. 13 deg C compared with 7, which helps explain the above average pasture growth rates we are seeing.
With growth rates above demand, we are bringing the heifers back onto the milking platform to help pull the cover down and using the dry cows to clean up any untidy residuals left by the milkers to ensure we achieve our pre-winter APC targets and have the best quality pasture on hand for the start of next season.
